Karin earned her first “big break” in 1986 as a finalist in Melodifestivalen, SVT´s annual music competition that determines Sweden´s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest.
Karin´s performance of the iconic song “Stopp Stopp Stanna” earned her a place in the top ten 1986.
Since then, Karin has transitioned from disco to country and grow into one of Sweden´s most succesful musical artists.
Over the last twenty years she has headlined some of Europes largest country music festivals and events including Country Music Festival Silkeborg, Scandinavian Country Music Festival. Smaka på Stockholm, Savenas Pop & Vis Festival, Lulea Harbour Festival.
She was born in a small town called Skelleftehamn and it is in the north of Sweden, eight hundred kilometers north of Stockholm. It is very close to the Arctic Circle. She grew up in a family with my mom and my dad and a little sister. My mom used to sing in the choir and she also sang for me every night when I was going to sleep. She was the only (musical person) in our family.
My father always encouraged me. He heard me singing all of the time when I was a little girl. He was proud of me, so he had me sing everywhere that I went with him. They started to pay me with expensive chocolates from England. My father was a ship broker and he took me onboard all of these big, big boats. I got to sing when I was very little.” My mom and dad gave me playfulness, joy and drive, it always inspired me to find my way and back to myself and my truth.
Karin Risberg is originally from Skelleftehamn, she moved to Stockholm to work with music already in the 80s. She has worked together with several well-known artists such as – Tommy Nilsson, Carola, Mats Ronander, Mats Radberg & Rankarna, Magnus Carlson, Robert Wells among others.
In the early 90s, Karin collaborated with the French producer Jaques Morali, where she released the single “Light My Fire” and a video under the name Angel Blue.
From 2017 she has spent time in Nashville to develop both as a singer and songwriter.
She performed at Music City´s “3rd & Lindsley” with Grammy Award winning The Time Jumpers, featuring Hall of Fame memer Vince Gill, when she was visiting Nashville for her first time.
Karin splits her time between Stockholm and Nashville. She has become a familiar and beloved presence on Nashville´s famous Lower Broadway music scene. She has toured as a member of Carlene Carter´s band, The Lucky Ones, playing Bergen, Norway and on the popular Cayamo Caribbean country music cruise in 2019.
The CD album “Angel Blue” was released in October 2015.
In October 2017, single and music videos were released from the album “Angel Blue”
She interprets a country hit from the 60´s, “Sea Of Heartbreak”, with famous Swedish singer Tommy Nilsson. “Sea Of Heartbreak” is included in the album Angel Blue, released in all online stores. The album contains a mix of famous country songs and the own song “Angel Blue”.
Tommy Nilsson was the obvious choice when country artist Karin Risberg would make a new version of the song “Sea Of Heartbreak”. Already in 1961 it was high on the billboard list. Now, she hopes that the new single and musical video will bring new interest to one of her favorite songs.
Tommy and Karin are good friends for many years but have never had an opportunity to work together.
“It was so fun to join Karin’s new album. We have known each other since the 80’s but have never sung together. It was easy to record the video because we knew each other for so long. I hope it can lift the already so beautiful “Sea Of Heartbreak,” says Tommy Nilsson.
Karin´s CD album “Something Good” was released in 2020.
Her lastest single and music video “The Room at the Top of the Stairs” was released in May 2024. Songwriters: Dan Tyler, Even Stevens – Harmonies by: Hall of Fame member Vince Gill.
